What makes Evelyn’s different
Evelyn’s Leaf Solution is the flagship product in the Leaf Solution lineup. It uses an advanced capillary-action design. A series of precision dips along the leading edge of the mesh that capture water through surface tension while shedding even the smallest debris off the front edge.
The technology is more advanced than what’s on standard micro-mesh products, and the result shows up in performance: Evelyn’s handles fine debris (pollen, roof grit, very small seeds) better than Xtreme does. The structural design is also engineered for snow load and high-wind environments.
The single biggest reason customers pick Evelyn’s over Xtreme, though, is color. Xtreme is available in mill (silver) and black. Evelyn’s comes in six standard colors plus custom-order options, which means the guard system can be visually integrated with existing gutter, trim, and roof colors instead of standing out as a silver or black band along the roof line.
When Evelyn’s is the right product
Architectural visibility. If your roof line is at eye level. For example, a single-story home where guests walking up the front path see the gutter line. Color matters. Evelyn’s lets the guard visually disappear.
High-end and luxury installations. Custom homes, architect-designed properties, vineyards and event venues, premium remodels. The price differential between Xtreme and Evelyn’s is real but small relative to the total project cost on these jobs, and the appearance integration is worth it.
Heavy aesthetic constraints. Some HOAs or design review boards push back on visible silver mesh products. Evelyn’s color-matched options sidestep that conversation.
Special performance requirements. Customers who want the absolute best fine-debris shedding. For example, properties under heavy spring pollen exposure. Sometimes pick Evelyn’s specifically for its performance edge over standard micro-mesh.
When it’s not the right product
For most of our installs, the honest answer is that Xtreme handles the debris equally well at a lower cost. We don’t recommend Evelyn’s just because it’s the highest-margin product. We recommend it when the use case demands it: appearance, snow load, or fine debris. Otherwise we recommend Xtreme or New Wave.
Where we install it most
Vineyard and winery properties between Charlottesville and Crozet. Tasting room buildings often have visible gutter lines integrated into the property’s branded look.
Architect-designed retreat homes in western Albemarle, Madison, and the Crozet/Free Union area. These are typically high-end builds where the guard system is part of the architectural design conversation.
Premium subdivisions like Glenmore, Keswick Estates, and parts of Old Trail where appearance matters and budgets allow for the upgrade.
Historic restorations where the customer wants modern guard performance without compromising the visual appearance of an older home.
What it costs
Pricing on Evelyn’s runs 15-25% above Xtreme on the same job. Typical full-home installation is $2,000 to $4,500 depending on size and complexity.
Warranty
25 years on the mesh and frame. Transferable to subsequent homeowners. Same warranty term as Xtreme; the product is engineered for the same long lifespan.
Color matching
Six standard colors cover the vast majority of Central VA homes:
- Mill (silver). Same as standard Xtreme.
- Black. Pairs with black or dark bronze gutters and trim.
- Bronze. Pairs with bronze or terratone gutters.
- Brown. Pairs with royal brown or dark brown gutters.
- White. Pairs with white gutters and trim, hides on white-trim homes.
- Custom. Special order for specific color matches; longer lead time.
